about

Some may say that there’s something in the water in the steel city streets of Newcastle. With notable Novacastrian singer-songwriters on the rise comes the entrancing indie-folk songstress De’May. 29 Words

Her debut full-length album was recently recorded by the serene Hawksbury River, NSW over the past year. De'May's natural and organic style combines a love for traditional blues, sixties folk, seventies rock and all that’s in between.

In her early teens, De’May fell in love with her father’s record collection and felt compelled to pick up one of his beaten-up acoustic guitars. With incense burning and Neil Young’s ‘Harvest’ on repeat, she taught herself to play. Now at the age of twenty-two, De’May has penned a haul of original songs that pay respect to her influences whilst presenting a fresh and distinctive style
